I read this verse somewhere on the internet – राम युद्ध में तभी जीते जब उनका भाई उनके साथ था और रावण युद्ध में इसलिए हारा क्योंकि उसका भाई उसके ख़िलाफ़ था ! The verse says it all, clear, crisp and to the point.

Today on International Brother’s Day I have penned down a poetry on the feelings of a brother who’s brother is not by his side.

The poetry is completely a work of creativity and imagination and is not based on anyone’s personal life.

The message intended to be conveyed is simple- Hold on to each other as family is not an important thing, it is ‘everything’ !

हात नहीं छोड़ना, साथ नहीं छोड़ना !

अजीब सा रिश्ता है तेरा मेरा,

याद तो आती है पर बात नहीं होती ।

तेरा चेहरा बख़ूबी याद है मुझे,

बस अब तुझसे मेरी मुलाक़ात नहीं होती ।

सोचता हूँ अकेले में कई बार मैं, के तुझको भी मेरी याद कभी आती तो होगी,

वो बचपन की बातें तुझे भी कभी यादों में आकर सताती तो होगी ।

वो तेरा मेरा घंटों आँगन में बहस ना के माँ बाबा का लाड़ला हम में से हैं कौन?

बड़े होते होते ये क्या हुआ हमें, यूँ दूर होकर क्यों हो गए हम मौन ?

समझदारी आने से तो रिश्ते हमें

और भी बख़ूबी निभाने थे,

पर भाई-भाई होते हुए भी क्यों हो गए हम अंजाने से ?

काश छोटी-छोटी बातों को ग़ुरूर से अपने हमने इतना बड़ा बनाया ही न होता,

सुख-दुख में एक दूसरे का साथ हम दोनों ने ही निभाया होता ।

ना तुम उदास रहते, ना मेरी आँखों में पानी होता,

जो भाई का भाई को बचपन जैसा बिना शर्तों वाला निःस्वार्थ साथ होता !
