The relationship between parents and children is forever evolving. Through each stage the roles, responsibilities and expectations differ. The same parents who are perfect superheroes in the toddler phase of a child go through a critical evaluation through the eyes of the children as they grown up and there comes a phase when the children feel that all that the parents do is nag, teach, preach and find faults. It is only a matter of time when the tables start turning and the same children after growing through their teenage and sailing through their adulthood gradually start realizing and co-relating as to what the parents meant and thought when they were constantly worrying and running behind their back.

This poetry of mine is an attempt to convey the unspoken feelings of the parents that are actually hidden behind their anguish and anger each time they try to reprimand and correct the choices and decisions they perceive to be inappropriate or unsuitable for their beloved child.

माता-पिता के मन के बोल…

माता-पिता की भूमिका के कारण

तुलना में हम भगवान है,

पर ख़ामियाँ हम में भी कम नहीं

आख़िर हम भी तो इंसान है ।

ग़लतियाँ हमने भी कीं हुई है,

ठोकरें ज़िंदगी की खाईं है,

अनुभव के मोती पिरो-पिरोकर

जीवन माला ये बनाई है ।

तुम्हारी ग़लतियों पर नाराज़ होकर

जब तुम्हें सलाह दे हम समझाते हैं,

परेशान हों तुम्हें डाँटकर,

अनुशासन का पाठ पढ़ाते है,

उसे नादानी से अपनी ग़लत ना समझना,

‘अकड़’ नहीं ‘चिन्ता’ है वो,

उम्मीद यही हर सलाह के संग बस

सही राह पर तुम चलो ।

सफल रहो और स्वस्थ रहो तुम,

सुख की छाया में सदा रहो,

भटको न जीवन की राह में कभी तुम,

सपने हासिल कर विजयी रहो ।

आँख मूँदकर जब भी इस दुनिया को हमारा

अलविदा कहने का समय आयेगा

बच्चा हमारा ख़ुशहाली में हैं बस

यही संतोष आत्मा को

अंत में समाधान दे जाएगा ।
