There is a famous rhyme “हाथी राजा बहुत भले” (hathi raja bohot bhale) which I am sure most of us have learnt in our childhood and still can hear our toddlers recite merrily today.
What happened in Kerala recently, was absolutely shameful, inhuman and disgusting act of cruelty against an animal. Just when we all are really suffering with the pandemic phase world wide and we thought that humans are introspecting and realizing their mistakes, thinking that now, with all the suffering around us, we will improve and try to do better, this incident took humanity to a new low. Shameful indeed.!
These are my thoughts penned down in the form of a poetry reflecting on the feelings that this incident brought in my mind;
हथिनी रानी बहुत भली
सूँड़ उठा तुम कहाँ चली
मेरे घर तुम न आना
यहाँ इंसान हैं,एतबार न दिखलाना।
ना आना इसके छल कपट में
न खाना इसकी हलवा पुरी तुम
तुम्हारे प्राण पल में हर लेगा,
निष्ठुर, क्रूर है यह, मेरी बात तू सून!
अपने घमंड,बेपरवाही, लालच से
जो आज खुद हैं फँसा हुआ
अपनी ही गलती के कारण
मास्क के पीछे मुँह ढँका हुआ
घर में दुबककर बैठा हैं जो
ख़ुद ही ख़ुद के जीवन का ख़तरा बना हुआ।
अपने ही बच्चों का बचपन
चार दीवारों में जिसने सिमट दिया,
वह उस अजन्मे कलभ कि मौत का दर्द
क्या समझेगा ए भोली हथिनी रानी,
जो बेहरूपिया इंसान के रूप में
खुद शैतान हैं बना हुआ!
